Who Can Register?

Types of Membership

SAMRO offers two main membership categories:


Associate Member

This is for individuals who have submitted their original music works and had at least one work performed publicly. Associate Members can begin receiving royalties.


Full Member

After a minimum of two years of active earning and consistent royalty collection, Associate Members can apply to become Full Members. Full Members have voting rights at SAMRO’s AGM and can elect board members.


Registration Requirements

To register as a Composer or Author with SAMRO, you need the following:


Completed Application Form – Available on the SAMRO website.


Copy of your ID or Passport (certified).


Tax Number – This is required for all royalty payments.


Banking Details – A certified bank confirmation letter or stamped statement.


Signed Deed of Assignment – This grants SAMRO the right to license your music.


List of Original Works – Include titles, co-writers (if any), and publishers.


For Music Publishers, you’ll need:


Company registration documents (CIPC).


Tax clearance.


Proof of musical works you control.


Publishing agreement with authors/composers.
